Mohammed Siraj returned to the Indian T20I team by taking two wickets against the USA in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. He was brought in after Harshit Rana was ruled out of the tournament. Siraj did not play in the opening match at Wankhede Stadium, as India opted for Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. However, when Bumrah became ill, Siraj got his chance.
The Indian team scored 161/9, highlighted by Suryakumar Yadav’s impressive innings of 84 runs off 49 balls, which included 10 fours and 4 sixes. The USA aimed to challenge India’s bowlers in the second innings, but Siraj and Arshdeep Singh bowled accurately from the start.
Siraj dismissed Andries Gous for just 6 runs off 9 balls. Captain Monank Patel was out for a duck, caught by Arshdeep Singh. Siraj then took the wicket of Saiteja Mukkamalla, who scored only 2 runs, leaving the USA at 30 for 3 after 6 overs.
