Former India batter and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar admires the energy Virat Kohli brings to the Cricket field, even as he nears the end of his remarkable career. The 37-year-old has exhibited moments of anger and intensity while playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Kohli is famous globally for his fierce demeanor on the field, never allowing opponents to gain an advantage. Some believe he acts this way for the camera, but Manjrekar disagrees. He noted that Kohli’s aggression drives him to perform better. Manjrekar expected Kohli to slow down with age, but this season has shown otherwise.
“Many people, including players, think he does it for the camera. I disagree because I’ve seen him play this way since his Under-19 days. This is how he approaches the game, and it fuels his performance. When he’s angry with the opposition, he plays better. I thought he might calm down at his age, but he’s still making catches and pulling off run-outs with great energy,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on Sportstar’s Insight Edge Podcast.
Kohli has been a focal point during fielding this season. A notable moment came during RCB’s away match against the Gujarat Titans, where he made a stunning catch to dismiss Shubman Gill and celebrated with great enthusiasm, even throwing the ball in frustration.
His lively spirit is also evident from the dugout when RCB is batting. This was particularly noticeable in their latest IPL game against the Mumbai Indians in Raipur, where they clinched a thrilling victory on the last ball.
