Afghanistan is preparing to play Test Cricket, a format they rarely participate in. On June 6, India will host Afghanistan for a one-off Test in New Chandigarh, marking an important moment for the visitors.
Eight years ago, in India, Afghanistan started their Test journey at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where they played their first Test match against India in June 2018. The debut was tough, ending in a loss by an innings and 262 runs after being asked to follow on.
Now, almost eight years later, Afghanistan returns with the experience of 12 Tests. Led by Hashmatullah Shahidi, they may be seen as underdogs, but the journey they’ve taken is more significant than just the scores.
