Former Pakistan captain and coach Mohammad Yousuf supports Pakistan’s choice to skip the match against India in the T20 World Cup 2026, stating it is based on principles rather than politics. He believes this decision aims to address India’s dominance in International Cricket.
Pakistan’s government confirmed on Sunday that the team will participate in the T20 World Cup starting on February 7 but will not play the Group A match against India on February 15 in Colombo. After this announcement, Yousuf expressed his support on X, calling the move a step towards correcting what he perceives as an imbalance in global cricket.
“This is a hard but essential decision by our Government. Principles must take precedence over commercial interests. The ‘selective’ influence in world cricket must end for the sport to be truly global. We play with pride and stand for equality and justice in sports,” he posted.
