The International Cricket Council (ICC) is likely to respond strongly to Pakistan’s choice to skip the India match at the 2026 T20 World Cup. According to a report by RevSportz, discussions among member boards are already happening. The ICC may hold an emergency meeting within the next 48 to 72 hours, potentially on Tuesday or Wednesday, to address this situation and decide on further actions.

An ICC source mentioned, “An ICC board meeting is expected in the coming days. This matter will be discussed thoroughly, and a decision will be made.”

Although the ICC has not yet received an official notice from the Pakistan Cricket Board, informal talks between member boards have started, with many expressing strong criticism of Pakistan’s stance.

Various member boards are dissatisfied with what they see as selective participation in ICC events, especially with Pakistan’s choice to travel to Sri Lanka while skipping one key match.

Questions have arisen about why Pakistan did not take a similar stance during the Under-19 World Cup. “If the intention was to boycott, they could have avoided that tournament too. This selective approach has not been well-received by other member boards,” a source commented.

The argument regarding security concerns behind Pakistan’s decision is also being questioned, given their willingness to travel to Sri Lanka.

The next few days will be crucial for Pakistan cricket as the ICC determines its response to the ongoing issue regarding the India-Pakistan match.
