Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan has acknowledged that he does not merit a place in the squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup. He was dropped from the Pakistan T20I team due to worries about his performance and his struggle to boost scoring in T20 matches.
Following Rawalpindi’s defeat to Lahore Qalandars on April 18 during the 2026 Pakistan Super League, Rizwan recognized that the doubts about his form are justified and that he shouldn’t be in the Pakistan team based on his current play.
“When I was participating in the Big Bash, the team was picked. I stated that I don’t deserve a spot in the Pakistan team due to my current performance,” he said in a press conference after the match.
“But I am the same person who was sitting here, and you mentioned that I cannot hit a six, if you recall. I am being truthful. Haris (Rauf) is a witness to this. We talked about it while eating, and I told him that I don’t deserve a spot in the Pakistan team given my performances. He responded in a way I can’t share here. He knows what I mean,” he added.
