The Netherlands has announced its 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup taking place in the UK from June 12.
This will mark the Dutch team’s first participation in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. They secured their place by winning all three matches in the Super Six stage of the Global Qualifiers.
“The Netherlands has chosen a World Cup squad that combines youth and experience, reflecting the good performance in recent ICC World Cup Qualifying Tournaments and the ICC Emerging Nations Tournament over the past year,” said Neil MacRae, Head Coach of Netherlands Women’s team.
Babette de Leede will lead the squad as they debut in the ICC T-20 World Cup. The players are eager to compete against top ICC countries,” he added.
The Dutch will kick off their campaign on June 14 against Bangladesh at Edgbaston, being placed in Group A alongside India, Australia, South Africa, and Pakistan. Captain Babette de Leede highlighted that participating in this prestigious event offers a significant chance to face some of the leading Cricket nations.
“We are thrilled about our first appearance in the ICC T20 World Cup. It’s an excellent opportunity to compete with top teams and showcase our talent on a grand stage. We hope to make the Dutch cricket community proud and inspire young girls,” said de Leede.
“Playing close to home in England, we expect strong support from our fans. This will be a memorable experience not just for our team but for our families and everyone who supports Dutch women’s cricket,” she added.
