Bangladesh has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England. Nigar Sultana Joty will captain the team, blending youth and experience.

Nahida Akter, a slow left-arm orthodox bowler, has been named vice-captain. At 25, she brings significant experience with over 100 T20I caps, claiming 117 wickets at an average of 17.11 and an economy rate of 5.81. She has also recorded two five-wicket hauls.

The squad includes top-order batter Taj Nehar, who returns after last playing a T20I against the West Indies on January 31 last year. Nehar has scored 44 runs in her eight T20I matches.

Bangladesh will be looking to Marufa Akter, a 21-year-old seamer known for her ability to move the ball sharply against right-handed batters. The team will depend on the captain Nigar and Sobhana Mostary for strong batting. Mostary, at 24, has scored 885 runs in 57 T20Is, with a personal best of 59.

Nigar is the top run-scorer for Bangladesh in T20s, with 2,336 runs in 119 matches, averaging 26.54 and maintaining a strike rate of 91.14, including one century and eleven fifties.

The Bangla Tigresses are placed in Group A with Pakistan, the Netherlands, Australia, India, and South Africa. Bangladesh will begin their campaign against the Netherlands on June 14 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. This will be their seventh appearance in the tournament.
